NAVAL AVIATION LOSES A GIANT OF A PILOT
The news arrived via an email from my former Commanding Officer, J.R Hutcinson. CDR Decoy Marksbury, a veteran of numerous carrier deployments, 9000 hrs flight time, 900 carrier landings, and countless moment of hilarity, maturity, bravery, and limitless friendships --- had passed away. Dead of a heart attach at age 63 years young, following a weekend of skiing with his family in Reno, NV.
Decoy leaves behind a wonderful family - his wonderful (and immensely patient ) wife Lora, daughter Julie, a son CAPT Joh Marksbury USMC, currently based in Washington, DC. But more that that, he leaves behind a reputation of being one the best pilots, best officers, and best people that this Aviator had ever come to know.... Decoy was a giant in Naval Aviation...

We offer our prayers and warm thoughts to "Decoy's" family, friends and wingmen.

I spent four years in the Navy as an AE from 1977 to 1981, most of that time with VT-24 at NAS Chase Field, near Beeville, Texas. In early 1980, I went with a group from Chase to MCAS Yuma as support for aircrew weapons training flights with the TA-4J aircraft. Who was in charge of our detachment? LCDR Marksbury. My brief time (a week or so) in his presence left a lasting impression, and went a long way toward making me the person I am today. He not only looked after us and kept us out of trouble, he made sure we were provided with everything that we needed to accomplish our mission. He not only had us motivated to do the best possible job, he showed us that we could do more than we thought was possible. No small feat for the short time that he had us in Yuma. And somehow he also found the time to get his flying missions in. My prayers and thanks to his family, from one grateful sailor from so many years ago.

About this new set entitled the HOLE OF SHAME:This set one level below the Corner of Shame; it is inedentd for legislation passed, pending and proposed. This set is more pointed toward the ideology of a certain bill or law that is the result of what I will consider is confused and disoriented thinking at the very least. Depending on the depth level, the severity of the shame increases. For example, any mention of amending any of the Bill of Rights will be flushed to the very bottom of this pit and flushed away, not into the river of no return nor into the lake of fire, but into the pit where the magma will destory it forever and a day. But of course, that is not a guarantee that another piece of legislation will not be resurrected, no, not at all. How well we know that old adage about how a bad penny returns. Therefore, be on the alert for bad pennies, and especially "wooden nickels."
